3 Easy Bridal Hairstyles that are perfect for your 2021 wedding

1/7/2021

After deciding on your makeup, it’s time to get your head around the bridal hairstyle to elevate your wedding look. Despite being cooped up at home for the better half of the year, brides have been test driving classic and contemporary styles, whether it was for a social outing earlier in 2020 or letting their hair down at home for fun. As weddings have gotten more intimate, there’s no denying its versatility either. From aisle-worthy updos to bridal braids, from fuss-free ponytails to well-placed accent, here are elegant and easy-to-recreate options for brides and guests.
Picture
The bun, be it updo or chignon, retains its status and sway as a bridal classic. Let’s count the reasons why it looks flawless: The hairstyle is bound to work no matter your hair texture or type. You simply need to loosen or tighten the bun to change its appeal. Buns are perfect to show off a backless blouse teamed with your lehenga or sari, and in contrast, highlight your jewellery and makeup when wearing a high neckline.
Picture
Call it the undisputed champion of wedding celebrations if you will, but braids are easy-to-put-together and easier-to-manage. Straight, wavy, curly, natural—they work with every hair texture and for every occasion. You can give conventional weaving a pick-me-up with a fishtail plait, lace a classic bun with an intricate braid or go bohemian by wearing the braid as a headband.
Picture
Sometimes, it’s best to keep it simple. And if you’d rather take the ‘less is more’ approach with your wedding-friendly hairstyle, a ponytail will be your saving grace. Ponytails may have been you go-tos for lazy days, but when styled right, they will be anything but boring. Bump it up a by teasing the crown or the bottom strands for some enviable volume.

What Is a Lash Lift and Tint?

12/11/2020

Imagine waking up every morning to lashes that looked like they’d been through a few curler clamps and coated with a hit of mascara...all before you put any makeup on. Not only is it possible, but the reality is as magical as it sounds. We’re talking about lash lifts and tints, the hour-and-change treatment that yields "do-nothing, still-look-great" results.

What is a lash lift?
One way to think of a lash lift is like a perm for your eyelashes. Unlike a lash extension, a lash lift simply alters the shape and color of your natural lashes.
With a keratin lash lift, more protein is added back into the lash. In a non-keratin lash lift, “the lashes are rolled upwards and set in place using the same type of chemicals that are used in traditional hair perms,” Carol Pires, Owner of Glaminator Beauty Bar,  explains. The treatment involves boosting and lifting each individual lash, before tinting them for thicker, darker, longer looking lashes.

What happens during a lash lift?
When you walk into your first lash lift, you can expect to lie down on a bed (like the kind you’d get a wax on). But, unlike a wax, you won’t actually be able to see anything, or use your eyes (and therefore, phone) for the duration of your appointment.

The appointment itself boils down to three key steps. First, silicone pads are placed on the (closed) eyelids. Your lashes are then lifted and a serum is applied to them. This first serum is used to break down the protein in the lashes. The lashes are molded onto the shield, so it breaks down the lash to take shape. Next, a keratin-infused fixing serum is applied, which, begins the process of restoring the lashes and conditioning them. The tint is applied and the silicone pads are removed. Finally, a coat of pure keratin is applied to the lashes, which provides an extra layer of protein to strengthen and condition.

Will a lash lift damage your lashes?
Lash lifts will not damage your lashes if done properly. Getting your lashes lifted usually motivates you to grow longer lashes and take better care of them naturally. I tell my clients to hydrate their lashes after a lift with coconut oil.

How long will the results last?
Results of a lash lift and tint last about six to eight weeks.

How do you maintain a lash lift?
The first 48 hours after a lash lift are the most crucial to maintaining those gorgeous results, and it’s required that you avoid water (and mascara), heavy exercising (or anything that would make you sweat a lot), or showering—at least in any way that will expose your lashes to the water. After 48 hours, we recommend brushing the lashes out every morning and evening before applying a lash serum.

Can you use mascara on top of your lash lift?
Yes, but never waterproof formulas. Waterproof mascara dehydrates the lashes in order to stay on, which causes breakage to the lash.

Are lash lifts safe?
In short, yes. When performed properly, the procedure is relatively safe, nothing that risks include potential skin irritation or allergies to the eyepatches or chemicals used in the process. If the perming chemicals are on the lashes for too long, they can lead to breakage or lash damage, and occasionally, with tints, the dye used can lead to allergies or direct irritation if they come in contact with the skin. As a customer, make sure to look at a professional’s reviews, before-and-afters, or ask a trusted friend for a recommendation.

How to Identify and Stop Hair Loss from Stress

12/4/2020

Picture
Stress affects everyone regardless of age, race, nationality or gender. It has been touted as a trigger for health conditions like inflammation, gastrointestinal disorders, asthma and even heart disease and diabetes, and much has been rhapsodized about how following a low-stress lifestyle is one of the keys to improving one’s quality of life. One doesn’t have to look far to see how the modern “wellness wave,” which can comprise of anything from the uptick in adaptogenic products to meditation retreats to a healthier work-life balance, has slowly taken over the collective—all to combat the debilitating effects of chronic stress.

From sleepless nights to fielding an unwanted blemish to weight fluctuations or even depression and Alzheimer’s disease—both the mental and physical manifestations of stress can show up in our bodies in a myriad of ways. For some of us, the lasting legacy of severe stress can even result in hair loss, which can actually be permanent if the root of the cause is not addressed.

But how does one keep stress at bay? It’s a pretty ubiquitous issue after all (and one that can pervade all aspects of our lives, from work to personal matters), and hair loss from stress can just as soon be a stressor in and of itself, resulting in an even more compounded problem! Below, we take a look at how to identify whether or not your compromised hair health is stress-related, which can help you come up with a solution and minimize the risk of hair loss. Read on:

What Types of Hair Loss Are Related to Stress?
A lot of things can contribute to hair loss: nutrient deficiency, over-styling  digestive issues, free radical damage, hormonal imbalances, genetics, and yes, stress, can all affect hair wellness. Visiting your doctor to get your levels checked, getting proper nutrition, ensuring there are no physiological health problems at play, plus making sure you’ve got a good hair care routine can eliminate several of these factors.

Next, looking at the kind of hair fall you are experiencing can help you further narrow it down. There are two common types of hair loss related to stress: telogen effluvium and trichotillomania. They are slightly different and can offer more insight into the reason behind your hair loss.

Telogen effluvium is the technical name for temporary hair loss. Its onset is when a substantial shock happens to the body, and according to one study, occurs primarily to women. Hair moves from the growing stage (anagen) into the resting stage (telogen). Normally a person may lose 100 hairs a day, but with the onset of telogen effluvium, they may lose 300 hairs a day instead. The cause of this condition is wide-ranging and may include excessive sun exposure, weight loss or an unusual diet, psychological stress, childbirth, surgery, discontinuing contraceptive pills and certain medications. Telogen effluvium can be reversed, and after a period of time hair typically starts to grow back.

Trichotillomania, according to the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), is a chronic obsessive-compulsive disorder that involves excessive hair-pulling. Experts state that this disorder has multiple causes and that long-term treatment is required to manage the condition. The study also says that “many who suffer from TTM experience shame, struggle with low self-esteem and report repeated efforts to conceal hair loss.”

How Long Does Stress-Related Hair Loss Last?
Depending upon the type of stress-related hair loss one is afflicted with, hair may start growing back anytime within a few months to a few years. With telogen effluvium, according to an article in Medical News Today, once the “trigger (to hair loss) has been established and addressed, the hair cycle should normalize and hair will begin to grow back.” Experts say that hair will start to grow again within a few months of treatment, but that constant and chronic stress can delay this and have the condition persist for longer times.

According to the DSM-5, for those suffering from trichotillomania, hair may grow back along with continued long-term therapies to manage and reduce the negative behaviors. Depending on how much the scalp has been damaged, it may take months or years before hair may start to grow again. A scalp regimen, like weekly scrubs and serums, helps keep your scalp healthy and may provide a good foundation for healthy regrowth.

3 Ways to Stop Hair Loss from Stress
There are natural ways to reduce stress in your life, which in turn can help you in your quest to prevent hair loss. Try changing your diet by incorporating more protein and fruits and vegetables that contain anti-aging properties (blueberries, spinach or sweet potatoes are good places to start!).

You can also be more mindful about what time you go to sleep at night. If you need to, create a set time to go to bed to get around 8 hours of sleep to help reduce stress. Below, we offer some tips to help manage stress and possibly induce hair growth at the same time:

1. Yoga/meditation
Yoga is a gentle form of exercise that can not only alleviate stress but can also help you get fit. Almost every yoga class has a meditation section, usually at the end of the class. If your stress levels are high, look for soothing hatha yoga or Iyengar yoga classes.

2. Head massages
Head massages can stimulate hair growth by increasing blood circulation to the scalp, which feeds the hair follicles and encourages hair growth. When massaging your scalp, use the pads of your fingers, and massage your scalp no longer than 5 minutes at a time. You can also incorporate essential oils when massaging your scalp. Mix a few drops of an essential oil like lavender or rosemary with a carrier oil (olive, grapeseed, almond or apricot kernel) and gently massage it into your scalp.

3. Switch out your shampoos
When stressed, your hair can become delicate and easily prone to damage. Haircare products that contain sulfates can dry out hair even more. Try switching to gentle or organic shampoos and conditioners. Argan, jojoba and sunflower seed oils are ingredients to look for in shampoos and conditioners, as they are very gentle and have nourishing and moisturizing properties.

As stated earlier, the average person may lose 100 hairs a day. If you feel that you might be losing more hair than you normally do or have discovered small coin-shaped bald patches on the scalp or elsewhere on the body, it’s a good idea to speak with a medical professional. Board-certified dermatologists are trained to diagnose and help treat scalp issues and different types of hair loss, including hair loss caused by stress and/or autoimmune disease.

Why Brow Lamination Is Taking Over

10/27/2020

Picture
Lamination is no longer just a reference to that shiny finish your first-grade teacher applied to an important piece of paper. The concept has made its grand return to our adult lives with the latest brow trend. An innovative technique called brow lamination originated in Russia, and it's quickly made it's way to New Jersey. You may have noticed pictures of full, slicked-up brows with a high-shine finish taking over your IG and Facebook feed. Well, that's brow lamination. It's more or less semipermanent soap brows.

Brow lamination "takes your thinning brow hair and smoothes it out while also lifting the hair in a more vertical direction," says Carol Pires, a brow expert and the owner of Glaminator Beauty Bar, in Pompton Plains New Jersey." The end result is super smooth brows that look like you have brow gel on them."
Picture
What is the brow lamination process like?
Brow lamination is basically a perm for your brows, as it gives them a set, uniform shape for an extended period of time. Instead of curls, a setting lotion helps brow hair stay brushed up and lifted upward for about six weeks.

The actual process starts off by painting a lifting cream onto the brow, which creates a chemical process that breaks down bonds in each hair, allowing them to be moved into a new shape. Next, the brow hairs are brushed up into place and a neutralizer is applied to reform the bonds into their new shape. Then a nourishing oil is added to the brows to replenish their moisture after the chemical treatment process.

From there, the brows may be tweezed, waxed, or tinted, depending on the look you're going for. As for price, brow lamination costs $70 for the lamination and $35 for the tint. With proper care, you can expect your laminated brows to last up to 6 weeks.

5 Ways to Make the Most of Your Wedding Hair & Makeup Trial Run

9/8/2020

Picture
Getting your hair and makeup done for your wedding day is almost as important as the dress itself! It’s your time to shine and look your very best, on one of the most amazing days of your life.

Fortunately, most stylists offer a makeup and hair trial run to make sure you’re both on the same page and so your wedding day goes off without a hitch. This is a great time to play with styles. You may be surprised to find out that you don’t love the look you thought you would or you may fall in love with it even more – it’s a time to play!
Before you go in for your trial run, check out these tips to make the most of your time.

Bring Pictures and an Open Mind
Remember, you’re going to a specialist – someone that does this for a living. While you should have your ideas and pictures to share, listen to what your stylist thinks too. If this isn’t her first rodeo, she may have some ideas you never thought of or know of issues she could help you sidestep on your big day. The point of the trial run is to let your stylist play around so you can decide together what works.

Bring your Makeup Bag
Your makeup artist will likely use her own products that she loves, but seeing what you normally use and love will help her. She may need to see the shades or she may want to see your ‘normal’ look so she can really make it different for your wedding day.

Bring your Accessories
If you’re wearing a veil, any hairpieces, or jewelry, bring it all with you to your trial run. This gives your stylist time to work with your accessories and it gives you time to see if you love how they look. You may love the accessories on their own, but once they’re on, you may change your mind or even find that you want to add something.

Get your Skin and Hair Ready
If you want your skin and hair to look their best, treat it well before you go for your trial run. Do a mini-facial at home and deep condition your hair the day before your trial (don’t wash it the day of). Drink lots of water and make sure your skin and hair are clean and ready for the stylist to work her magic.

Wear a Similar Neckline and/or Style as your Dress
You obviously won’t wear your dress to the trial run, but find something with a similar cut to bring to your trial. You’ll be able to see how your hair and even makeup looks with the style – you may find that what you thought you wanted doesn’t work or something the stylist recommends looks amazing with the style.

Most importantly, have fun! Your makeup and hair trial is another piece of the puzzle and a day to put in the memory book. Relax, unwind, bring a friend, and have some laughs as you prepare for the most important day of your life!

6 Benefits of Waxing Vs Shaving

9/1/2020

Picture
Shaving vs waxing is an ongoing debate. Is waxing worth it or is a quick shave during your morning shower enough? While waxing keeps your hair away much longer than shaving, it has many other benefits that many women don’t realize.

Let’s check them out.

You Change the Hair Regrowth Cycle
Waxing slows hair regrowth – which is what you want! This means smoother skin, more time in your mornings to do other things (sleep, maybe) and thinner hair regrowth. When you wax, you remove the hair at the root, rather than cutting the hair at the shaft where it meets the skin, as shaving does. If you wax regularly, your hair grows back slower and slower, giving you smoother skin for longer periods.

Your Skin Gets Exfoliated
Waxing doesn’t replace the need to exfoliate, but it’s a nice bonus when you get it done. It rips off the outer layer of your skin, giving your skin a fresh start. It’s up to you to take care of that skin by moisturizing, staying hydrated, and continually exfoliating at least once a few days after your waxing appointment.

You’ll Feel more Comfortable
Have you ever felt the uncomfortable hair regrowth itch? It’s like you know the minute your hair is growing back because you incessantly itch. Waxing solves that problem. Since your hair grows back slower, it doesn’t get to the skin’s surface as fast, so you may skip the itchy feeling altogether.

Say Goodbye to Razor Burn
We’ve all been there – that painful razor burn that negates any beauty that shaving was supposed to offer. Not only is it ugly, but it hurts! Waxing doesn’t create this problem. In fact, your technician will likely ask you not to shave in between your waxing appointments, so once you start waxing, you can say goodbye to razor burn forever.

Reduce the Risk of Ingrown Hairs
If you’ve never had an ingrown hair, consider yourself lucky. It hurts. Waxing eliminates this risk, though. Technicians pull your skin tight before ripping off the wax strip, which ensures that they get every hair, and reduce or eliminate the risk of ingrown hairs growing and putting you at risk for infection.

You Get Pampered

It’s not often that we take time for ourselves, so consider your waxing time ‘me time’ and enjoy it. Let your Glaminator do the work making you beautiful while you enjoy a little relaxation time. You’ll have more time to yourself when this pesky task is completed too, since you won’t have to work in time to shave every other day.

If you don’t wax yet, consider it! Waxing makes your life simpler and your skin smoother. You don’t have to worry about ugly hair growth every few days or worrying about what you look like when you’re in a hurry and forgot to shave. There’s nothing to shave when you get waxed regularly and the more you do it, the slower your hair grows back.

Short Bridal Hairstyles: Get Your Dream Wedding Style, Whatever Your Hair Length

8/31/2020

Picture
When you picture a bride, you picture long hair swept into a gorgeous wedding hairstyle, right? If you have short hair, you may think you could never pull off that look, but you may just be surprised.

No matter your hair length, there are beautiful and elegant wedding hairstyles a reputable stylist can create for you!

Updos Aren’t out of the Question
Believe it or not, stylists can work magic with updos and short hair. It’s all in the technique. While they can’t sweep up your hair in a sophisticated chignon, they can wrap your cute locks up, layering them on one another, creating an elegant and unique look. Let your hairstylist try it at your trial appointment to see what you think!

Low Buns are Elegant Too
If you want your hair swept ‘up’ but can’t quite get it higher than your neck, consider a low bun. They are whimsical and elegant at the same time and work great with certain hairpieces. Talk to your stylist about your options, or ask what type of hairpieces would work best if you chose the low bun before you buy one.

Use the Half Up Hairstyle
Wedding hair doesn’t mean it has to be worn up, but if you’ve always imagined a ‘swept up’ look, consider a half-up hairstyle. Sweep up the sides and half of the back, but not the entire hair. Use elegant clips and accessories to dress it up, making your hair look romantic and elegant for your big day.

Accessorize It
If you have short hair, such as the pixie style, consider just going with more accessories. A flower band or an elegant veil will make your hair look sweet and romantic no matter how short it is. Pixie hairstyles are great at showing off your amazing facial features – and what more does your groom want to see on your wedding day than your beautiful smile?

Loose Curls are Sweet
Some brides don’t want the elegant and sophisticated look; they would rather look like ‘themselves’ on their wedding day. Low loose curls are the perfect way to do just that. They don’t take away from the dress, or your beautiful face, and yet they add a sense of elegance to your everyday hairstyle.

Use Side Pins
Short hair that can’t be swept up or curled looks elegant with side pins. Your stylist can pin back the front of your hair, while creating a sophisticated style with the rest of your hair. It’s a way to add a little bit of sophistication to your style without going overboard.

The sky is the limit when creating wedding hairstyles out of short hair. Experiment, have fun, and have an open mind when you sit down with your stylist to come up with your wedding hairdo. Think of your dress’s neckline and the look you want and together you’ll create the most magical hairstyle that will wow your guests and make you feel like a princess on your special day.

The Top Ways Vitamins A, D, E, K and F Help your Skin

8/24/2020

Picture
Your skin is your largest organ, so it pays to take care of it and that means getting the proper vitamins. Just like your body needs vitamins, so does your skin and that includes Vitamins A, D, E, K, and F for proper nutrition and to have the smooth, glowing, and youthful skin you desire.

The best way to feed your skin the nutrients it needs is to eat a nutrient-rich diet and use skincare products naturally rich in Vitamins A, D, E, K, and F.

Vitamin AVitamin A keeps your skin moisturized, helps it heal, and prevents acne. It’s what gives your skin the healthy glow and keeps it looking young. So how can you get it?

  • Eat plenty of leafy greens, carrots, sweet potatoes, and eggs
  • Use products rich in Vitamin A, including creams or serums that enrich your skin’s surface, creating  a smooth, healthy surface

Vitamin D Did you know your skin has a metabolism? Similar to the metabolism of our digestive system, your skin’s metabolism is what helps your skin repair itself and continually grow. It’s what helps your skin have that smooth, youthful appearance rather than succumbing to wrinkles and damage from the free radicals. Without adequate Vitamin D, you may experience skin inflammation and little cell turnover.

Ways to get Vitamin D:
  • Eat plenty of vitamin-fortified milk and cereal, and consume fish such as salmon and tuna
  • Use creams rich in Vitamin D to fight inflammation and help fortify your skin

Vitamin E
Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps keep your skin smooth by protecting it from the environment’s free radicals, especially the sun’s UV rays. In fact, one of Vitamin E’s main jobs is to protect your skin from the sun’s damage, such as dark spots and wrinkles.

Ways to get Vitamin E:
  • Eat sunflower seeds, almonds, and spinach
  • Take a multi-vitamin with Vitamin E
  • Use products rich in Vitamin E to protect the skin, moisturize it and fight the signs of aging

Vitamin K If you’re tired of dark spots, dark circles under your eyes, and scars, your skin needs more Vitamin K. It helps speed up your skin’s healing powers by empowering your body’s blood clotting abilities.

Ways to get Vitamin K:
  • Eat kale, spinach, lettuce, and cabbage
  • Use rich creams with Vitamin K to help the skin heal, scar less, and look smooth

Vitamin FVitamin F is the fatty acids your skin needs. Just like your body needs good fat, so does your skin. The fat helps build a strong exterior to your skin, which helps fight the damage free radicals and water loss causes, helping your skin stay smooth and supple.

Ways to get Vitamin F:
  • Eat almonds, pecans, sunflower seeds, and walnuts
  • Use creams rich in Vitamin F to help keep your skin moisturized

Vitamins A, D, E, K, and F are all amazing for your skin. While you can get them in many foods, supplementing your skin with products containing the vitamins helps strengthen your skin, giving it the smooth, healthy, and youthful appearance you desire.

Everything You Need to Know About SPF

7/21/2020

Picture
Okay, we’re 100% really into looking tanned and radiant all summer long. But there’s a whole host of fake tanning options that help us to bronzed beach body perfection, without the serious skin damage. Because what we’re not into is skin cancer, premature wrinkles, acne scarring, and pigmentation. Which is why we need to talk about SPF. Keep scrolling down for the answers to every question you have about SPF.

THE BIG QUESTIONS
WHAT DOES SPF MEAN? SPF stands for ‘Sun Protection Factor’ and measures the amount of protection you get from the sun’s UV rays. The higher the SPF, the better the protection.

HOW DOES SPF WORK?
SPF typically ranges from 2 to 50, which tells you how long it will take for your skin to burn compared to if you weren’t using any protection. So, if it typically takes you 10 minutes to burn without protection, an SPF30 will protect you for 30 times longer, which is 5 hours.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU APPLY SPF?
Because sunscreens can easily wear off (due to water exposure and contact with clothing), if you’re in strong, direct sunlight you should reapply every 2-4 hours (and more frequently with exercise, swimming, or towelling off).

WHAT ARE UVA AND UVB RAYS?
They’re both ultraviolet rays. UVA is a long wave which penetrates the skin’s thickest layer whereas UVB is a short wave which burns the surface layer of skin.
UVA is responsible for tanning, but it’s also the main culprit for triggering the visible signs of aging – wrinkles and brown spots. UVB rays are the ones that do serious damage – they’re responsible for sunburn as well as tanning and premature ageing, and they also cause the long-term damage that can lead to skin cancer.

WHY SHOULD YOU WEAR SUNSCREEN?
Sunburn isn’t just annoying, it’s your skin’s way of sending you a warning sign – your cells are damaged. UVB rays damage the DNA in your cells – if this builds up. It causes cells to mutate, which can lead to cancer. Sun exposure is the biggest trigger of aging skin – just as an apple goes soft and wrinkly when it’s left out in the sun, so will your skin. You exfoliate your skin using AHAs/BHAs – they’re great for clearing and brightening your skin, but they leave your skin super sensitive to sun damage.

HOW MUCH SUNSCREEN SHOULD YOU APPLY?
Half a teaspoon for face and neck the equivalent of a full-size shot glass each application on a typical beach or pool day you should go through half a bottle.

DO I ONLY NEED TO WEAR SUNSCREEN WHEN IT’S SUNNY?
It’s very important to wear sunscreen when it’s sunny because that’s when you’re prone to burning. But really, in order to prevent long-term damage, you should add an SPF into your everyday routine. UV rays can penetrate through clouds, windows, and even clothing, so if it’s not prevented, damage builds up slowly over time.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PHYSICAL SUNSCREEN AND CHEMICAL SUNSCREEN?
Here’s where things get scientific. Chemical sunscreens absorb radiation and convert it to heat to prevent UV damage from occurring (so sun is basically absorbed and then released from the skin), whereas physical sunscreens act as an actual barrier to reflect UV radiation and prevent the sun’s rays from even penetrating the skin. For this reason, physical SPF can sometimes feel quite thick and chalky, whereas chemical SPFs will be much lighter and smoother on the skin. To work out whether a sunscreen is physical or chemical, check the ingredients list. Essentially, if it contains either zinc oxide or titanium dioxide then it’s physical. And if it doesn’t, then it’s chemical.

THINGS TO REMEMBER...
Expiry dates – most sunscreens will last for a year after opening. Once they’ve gone-off, the formulas can deteriorate and end up useless. Don’t forget all areas – the back of your neck, tops of your ears, backs of your hands, your lips, and your scalp are all vulnerable to damage, but often forgotten. Apply at least 30 mins before sun exposure – this gives the ingredients enough time to absorb into skin. You don’t need higher than SPF50 – 50 gives you 98% protection from the sun’s rays, so it’s very hard to get any higher than that!

On such a special day most brides want a totally different makeup scheme to their usual look, but many are worried about getting it wrong and ending up looking too overdone. Finding an experienced makeup artist, who will come up with a wedding makeup combination that suits both your skin tone and your wedding style, can ensure that you look absolutely beautiful in your wedding pictures.

When to book your wedding makeup artist(s)

You should be looking to choose your wedding makeup artist around five to six months before your special day and you should book both for the wedding day itself and for a trial run two to three months beforehand. If you can arrange to have your hair and makeup trials on the same day it’s a great excuse for a girl’s night out.

Who to book wedding makeup for on your wedding day
We recommend to book the makeup artist or makeup team for any bridesmaids and possibly the mothers of the bride and groom as well as yourself, but you are the only one that should need a wedding makeup trial session.

Selecting your wedding makeup artist(s)
When you're talking to makeup artists and deciding which one to use, the questions they ask you are possibly more important than their responses to your questions. They should be asking you about the lighting at the ceremony and reception, the type of venue you have chosen, the color of your wedding dress and the overall wedding theme, and the hairstyle you have in mind. Your makeup artist should have a wide range of styles in their repertoire and they should be prepared to listen to what you want, while also making suggestions themselves if they feel something you ask for might not suit you or your wedding style.

Wedding makeup trial tips
When you schedule your bridal makeup trial you should have a few of your favorite looks to share with the makeup artist to identify and make sure that you get exactly what you want, rather than settling for a random first try. If you aren’t happy with your makeup trial, we recommend either booking another appointment to attempt alternate looks or perhaps finding another makeup artist.

Top beauty tips for brides
With our years of experience beautifying brides across New Jersey and the Tri-state state area here are just a few general tips and tricks proven to help any bride.

1. We recommend choosing colors that match your skin's complexion. For example and generally speaking brunettes look great in warm shades of plum, cream and copper, while blondes can carry off colder shades such as lavender, blue-grey and teal and redheads look stunning in peach, grey or moss green.

2. It's a magical day filled with happy emotions so we know very few brides get through the day without a few tears of joy. As your makeup Glaminator's we want to make sure you avoid panda eyes by using high quality waterproof mascara. This can also double up as waterproof liquid eyeliner.

3.
If you want to make any changes to your skin care and beauty routine, do so several weeks before the wedding. Getting a facial or using a new beauty product the week before the big day can provoke a very ill timed breakout.

4.
Getting the perfect complexion on your wedding day can take more than just a good foundation. The stress of wedding planning can cause breakouts and bad skin, so take time to relax and pamper yourself before your special day.

5. Drink plenty of water and try to limit the amount of coffee and alcohol you consume. Get into the habit of cleansing and moisturising daily, preferably several weeks before the wedding.
