It’s not just for kids and it’s not all about senseless dance moves. We can all learn a few things on TikTok, including some new hair and makeup tips. Who knew?! We compiled a list of some tutorials worth trying.
10-second contour According to the video, all you need is a stick bronzer and your foundation. You simply contour over the lips, under the cheekbones and chin, and on the forehead. Then you add your foundation on the rest of the face and blend in. See for yourself on TikTok here. DIY BB Cream Creators are mixing creams they already own to create a custom shade of BB cream (beauty balm) which is meant to be a lightweight base. For this DIY to work, you have to make sure your foundation and primer have the same base ingredients otherwise the product will roll right off your face. Easy high ponytail for long hair If you’re looking for a voluminous and easy hairstyle, this is for you. It’s done by twisting the hair tie around the bottom part of the ponytail twice. First you make a regular high ponytail, but on the last twist, grab half of your hair and pull it through. Then tie it in the back and front. While we all have different issues (adult acne, dry skin, rosacea, etc.) there are a few tips most of us can follow for a healthy daily skincare regimen. Hint: It all starts and ends with cleansing.
Daily cleansing Cleanse your face twice a day— gently. Cleansing when you wake up and before you go to bed helps remove oil and dirt that can irritate your skin. Choose a mild, soap-free cleanser to avoid irritation. Be sure to pat dry with a clean cotton towel. Moisturizing and sun protection Moisturizing is key for healthy skin. The best time to moisturize is after a shower and you have pat dried your skin. Consider using a moisturizer with built-in sun protection/SPF 30 or higher year round. And now that we’re officially approaching fall, it’s time to say goodbye to the lightweight, oil-free moisturizer and switch to a heavier cream. Staying away from irritants If you have sensitive skin or suffer from rosacea, avoid anything that contains alcohol, camphor, fragrance, glycolic acid, lactic acid, menthol, sodium laurel sulfate and urea. Consider finding products or makeup that doesn’t irritate your skin. You might need to make an appointment with a dermatologist to discuss your specific needs. Fall has arrived. And with the cooler weather comes a drop in humidity, which makes for dry skin. To help you prepare for the new season, we compiled some tips on how to transition your skincare routine from summer to fall.
Switch to a thicker moisturizer Adding an extra layer of hydration to your routine is a great way to prevent skin dehydration. Now is the time to say goodbye to the lightweight moisturizer and switch to a heavier cream. When the skin lacks hydration, you get dryness and irritation - and sometimes eczema. If you’re worried about a product reaction or breaking out, we recommend patch-testing for a few days. But if you avoid the ingredients you’re sensitive to, you might be able to find a heavier cream your skin can tolerate. Avoid hot showers Hot showers damage the skin barrier. Instead, take tepid showers and apply moisturizer on damp skin afterward. This will help seal and replenish the moisture your skin needs. Try gentle exfoliation A non-abrasive gentle exfoliator can be key to getting rid of dead dry winter skin. If overdone, it can cause more hydration loss and inflammation, so try to go easy on the acids and retinols. Our Sugar Scrub formula, made of raw cane sugar, emu oil, and coconut oil, will gently exfoliate and rejuvenate your skin. It’s a lightweight and whipped scrub that penetrates deeply to leave your skin smooth, hydrated and clean, and its subtle hint of therapeutic lavender essential oil will absolutely seduce your senses. Those are classic autumn hues that will never go out of style, but we have our eyes on a few new trends this fall.
Electric eyes The timeless smokey eye isn’t going anywhere, but neons aren’t either. Expect to see shades of fuschia and electric blue on eyelids this season. Sounds a bit much? It might actually be a fun way to add a pop of color to our fall wardrobe which often consists of browns and black. Black eyeliner The 90s are back and if a winged eyeliner isn’t for you, consider a grungy— yet sophisticated look. Smudge a black pencil eyeliner formula on your top and bottom lines, and finish off the look with neutral lipstick and subtle contouring. Soap brows The brushed-up brow look is here to stay (for now anyway). If you want to perfect this brow trend, consider setting up a lamination appointment for a lasting effect. Brow lamination is basically a perm for your brows as it gives them a set, uniform shape for an extended period of time. Instead of curls, a setting lotion helps brow hair stay brushed up and lifted upward for about six weeks. If you found this helpful then let me know in the comments section below.
