Getting your hair and makeup done for your wedding day is almost as important as the dress itself! It’s your time to shine and look your very best, on one of the most amazing days of your life.
Fortunately, most stylists offer a makeup and hair trial run to make sure you’re both on the same page and so your wedding day goes off without a hitch. This is a great time to play with styles. You may be surprised to find out that you don’t love the look you thought you would or you may fall in love with it even more – it’s a time to play! Before you go in for your trial run, check out these tips to make the most of your time. Bring Pictures and an Open Mind Remember, you’re going to a specialist – someone that does this for a living. While you should have your ideas and pictures to share, listen to what your stylist thinks too. If this isn’t her first rodeo, she may have some ideas you never thought of or know of issues she could help you sidestep on your big day. The point of the trial run is to let your stylist play around so you can decide together what works. Bring your Makeup Bag Your makeup artist will likely use her own products that she loves, but seeing what you normally use and love will help her. She may need to see the shades or she may want to see your ‘normal’ look so she can really make it different for your wedding day. Bring your Accessories If you’re wearing a veil, any hairpieces, or jewelry, bring it all with you to your trial run. This gives your stylist time to work with your accessories and it gives you time to see if you love how they look. You may love the accessories on their own, but once they’re on, you may change your mind or even find that you want to add something. Get your Skin and Hair Ready If you want your skin and hair to look their best, treat it well before you go for your trial run. Do a mini-facial at home and deep condition your hair the day before your trial (don’t wash it the day of). Drink lots of water and make sure your skin and hair are clean and ready for the stylist to work her magic. Wear a Similar Neckline and/or Style as your Dress You obviously won’t wear your dress to the trial run, but find something with a similar cut to bring to your trial. You’ll be able to see how your hair and even makeup looks with the style – you may find that what you thought you wanted doesn’t work or something the stylist recommends looks amazing with the style. Most importantly, have fun! Your makeup and hair trial is another piece of the puzzle and a day to put in the memory book. Relax, unwind, bring a friend, and have some laughs as you prepare for the most important day of your life! If you found this helpful then let me know in the comments section below. Is waxing worth it or is a quick shave during your morning shower enough? While waxing keeps your hair away much longer than shaving, it has many other benefits that many women don’t realize.
Let’s check them out. You Change the Hair Regrowth Cycle Waxing slows hair regrowth – which is what you want! This means smoother skin, more time in your mornings to do other things (sleep, maybe) and thinner hair regrowth. When you wax, you remove the hair at the root, rather than cutting the hair at the shaft where it meets the skin, as shaving does. If you wax regularly, your hair grows back slower and slower, giving you smoother skin for longer periods. Your Skin Gets Exfoliated Waxing doesn’t replace the need to exfoliate, but it’s a nice bonus when you get it done. It rips off the outer layer of your skin, giving your skin a fresh start. It’s up to you to take care of that skin by moisturizing, staying hydrated, and continually exfoliating at least once a few days after your waxing appointment. You’ll Feel more Comfortable Have you ever felt the uncomfortable hair regrowth itch? It’s like you know the minute your hair is growing back because you incessantly itch. Waxing solves that problem. Since your hair grows back slower, it doesn’t get to the skin’s surface as fast, so you may skip the itchy feeling altogether. Say Goodbye to Razor Burn We’ve all been there – that painful razor burn that negates any beauty that shaving was supposed to offer. Not only is it ugly, but it hurts! Waxing doesn’t create this problem. In fact, your technician will likely ask you not to shave in between your waxing appointments, so once you start waxing, you can say goodbye to razor burn forever. Reduce the Risk of Ingrown Hairs If you’ve never had an ingrown hair, consider yourself lucky. It hurts. Waxing eliminates this risk, though. Technicians pull your skin tight before ripping off the wax strip, which ensures that they get every hair, and reduce or eliminate the risk of ingrown hairs growing and putting you at risk for infection. You Get Pampered It’s not often that we take time for ourselves, so consider your waxing time ‘me time’ and enjoy it. Let your Glaminator do the work making you beautiful while you enjoy a little relaxation time. You’ll have more time to yourself when this pesky task is completed too, since you won’t have to work in time to shave every other day. If you don’t wax yet, consider it! Waxing makes your life simpler and your skin smoother. You don’t have to worry about ugly hair growth every few days or worrying about what you look like when you’re in a hurry and forgot to shave. There’s nothing to shave when you get waxed regularly and the more you do it, the slower your hair grows back. If you found this helpful then let me know in the comments section below.
